Rotary Club of Great Missenden
Boats for
Tsunami affected Fishermen
[Summer 2005]
Great Missenden Rotary Club has helped Tsunami affected fishermen in Sri Lanka. They now have motorised boats and nets to get their livelihood back. The Club facilitated the channelling of over £9,000 raised by the partnership between English Bridge Union and Rotary Club of Buckingham - led by Terry Collier.
The idea of boats came from a Great Missenden local man, Sen Sinniah, who had contacts with a priest, Rev Fr Upul Fernando, in Hambantota, Sri Lanka. The priest masterminded the project at his end and completed it swiftly and reliably.
